Recipient Org: Description | WeySight was set up as an independent CIO in September 2016. The group is the successor to the Sight for Surrey Gambit Group which operated for over 10 years but came to an end in 2016 when Sight for Surrey discontinued the service. The GAMBIT group was supported with grants from the Community Foundation and operated for several years. The purpose of the group is; • to improve independent living skills for the visually impaired population of Guildford and Waverley and the surrounding areas by providing learning support in a variety of communication skills such as braille, moon and specialist IT packages. • to provide peer support for individuals living with sight loss. • to encourage the involvement of the wider sighted community. • to foster community spirit through involvement with community activities. The organisation employs one part-time staff member is managed by a committee of 6 and 9 further volunteers. |
