Recipient Org: Description The Camberley Alzheimer Café CIO (CACCIO) is a charity which was registered in December 2015. CACCIO provides a post diagnostic service to families where dementia is a feature. The group meets monthly in a warm and friendly atmosphere with live music and refreshments. This provides a space for people to relax, share experiences and learn about the world of dementia. The main focus is on the emotional world experienced by carer and cared for. There is also an educational component to the work, involving experts in the various fields associated with dementia, and delivery of an established programme, thus enabling group and individual discussion. CACCIO ensures that the overall programme accords with that of Alzheimer Café’s worldwide, and this means guests from other towns and countries can join in and know what to expect. The charity runs Man with a Pan courses, Healthy Heart courses (for both sexes), and Reunion days to enable friends and family to witness cooking achievement and the receipt of a certificate from the Mayor. With sufficient funding CACCIO runs a series of 'Dementia Awareness' courses; usually 4 in any year.
