Recipient Org: Description | Eikon is a Surrey-based charity and company limited by guarantee, established in 1995 and providing long-term support to some of the county’s most vulnerable, disadvantaged and at-risk young people and their families. Eikon introduces preventative approaches as many of the young people Eikon works with are on the verge of homelessness, exclusion from school, crime, involvement in drug and alcohol abuse, self-harm, mental health issues or family crisis. Eikon works in secondary schools and in youth centres and conducts Mobile Outreach programmes to target hard-to-reach young people. Eikon works with around 3,000 young people annually and aims to help young people build their wellbeing, resilience and aspirations. Eikon means picture or vision in the Greek language and this reflects Eikon’s ambition to help young people visualise and realise a better future for themselves. Since 2016 four charities – Eikon, Reflex Woking, Windle Valley Youth Project, and The Lifetrain Trust have merged to form the organisation that Eikon is today. |
