Purpose of Organisation The Forest Estate Community Hub is located on the West side of Englefield Green, the 4th highest area of relative deprivation in surrey, opened in 2012 and is managed by The Journey -River Church in partnership with local residents and other agencies including local government, businesses and groups. We bring local people together, providing a space and focus for raising individual and community aspiration and building pride in our estate. We are the only community space on the estate with known issues of poverty, isolated elderly people, digital exclusion and disengaged youth and children. We provide an inclusive space offering support and opportunities for our local residents to build stronger community relationships. We are a focal point for community organising which can lead to community-based efforts in dealing with other social concerns. Our aim is help improve health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups, fostering a sense of belonging which reduces isolation and stem mental health problems. We provide a wide range of free inclusive activities and community events including weekly youth club, dance club, children’s activities, multi generational gardening and beekeeping club, community café, cooking for life programme, faith gatherings, skills workshops, budgeting workshops, activities for children in the school holidays, community events and activities offered by external hires.
