Purpose of Organisation Surrey Remap is the local branch of the national charity Remap (www.remap.org.uk), established in 1964. Remap volunteers design and make custom equipment for the disabled. We frequently work with Occupational Therapists and their disabled clients to provide solutions tailored to the specific needs of the disabled person when that need cannot be met by commercial sources. We are also approached directly by clients, or carers and parents on behalf of a disabled person. Our work frequently involves modification or adaptations of existing equipment. Our clients range in age from toddlers to centenarians. Our volunteers are people with the ability to problem solve, to work cooperatively, and to convert ideas into reality in their own workshops at home. We refer to them as engineers, but good DIY skills and imaginative thinking are their key characteristics.
