| Purpose of Organisation | Founded in 1963, Age Concern Surrey (now operating as Age UK Surrey) is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. The charity promotes the wellbeing of people over the age of 50 within the county and aims to help make their lives as fulfilling and enjoyable as possible by creating positive opportunities and tackling disadvantage. Services include provision of information and advice, Help at Home Scheme, Men in Sheds Project, computer drop-in centre, advocacy, counselling, befriending, health and wellbeing activities such as walks and cycling, and home help services. Additionally, the charity manages the Shop Mobility service on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, with approximately 1,800 user trips per year. Foot care is also offered along with home visiting and befriending services. The charity has a staff team of almost 70 full and part time staff, along with around 250 volunteers. Age UK Surrey is managed by 6 Trustees. |
