Purpose of Organisation | Princess Alice Hospice (PAH) is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. It based in Esher and has for more than 30 years provided free, high quality specialist end-of-life care to tens of thousands of people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. It was founded by the local community, and at any one-time 1000+ people in need receive direct care and support. They were the first hospice in the UK to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care quality commission (CQC) in all five inspection categories. They support families and carers during their loved one’s illness and through the process of grief and loss. They are a leading provider of training and education, helping to build the skills, expertise and confidence of health and social care workers supporting people at the end of life. Last year they: • Received 2,433 clinical referrals to the Hospice, of which 301 were admitted onto the In-Patient Unit. • Provided 2,953 therapy sessions including 2,387 Occupational and Physiotherapy sessions. • Supported an average of 192 people per month with Bereavement Support, including children and young people. • Arranged 9,213 Hospice at Home nurse consultations, both face-to-face and over the phone/zoom and cared for 2,825 people in their own homes, enabling patients to die where they wished. This contributes to 87% of all patients achieving their Preferred Place of Death. • Had 4,806 attendances at our Wellbeing Centre. These are virtual or in-person, helping patients, carers and their loved ones improve their quality of life. |
