Programme Donor Funds
Purpose of Organisation To help with our most vulnerable clients we have been awarded our first ever health funding via Surrey County Council as part of the Bridge the Gap programme. This project will see us employ two specific members of staff to work on a Surrey-wide project working intensively with the most vulnerable to tackle multiple and linked issues around health, well being and housing. Being able to provide this level of deep support to those who are the most in need will be hugely helpful to us, as some clients require a very significant time investment from our team, and this funding will make that possible, and enable these clients who face many obstacles to start moving forwards. NEW as of 2023/24 DR4 Founded in 2001, set up to help people threatened with homelessness access the private rented sector from our High Street base we provide stable accommodation for people who have been rough sleeping, hidden homeless or vulnerably housed, and support them to remain housed. Accommodation: each year we house approximately 125 people. Working with local landlords, and directly managing 100+ bed-spaces, we can quickly move homeless clients into quality private rented housing. Support includes rent-in-advance, deposit bonds, and move-in essentials, eg transport, electricals, towels, bedding. Practical support: people can access a warm safe space, hot food, showers and laundry facilities in our High Street space. The location has made our service more accessible to more people, particularly those without knowledge of the benefits system. It has reduced the stigma that could be felt accessing a homelessness service, faith or community charity, and brought new enquiries and referrals. Client support: in-depth consultations for clients to create their personal plan, and regular ongoing support, around 600 interventions per year.  This includes supporting people with complex needs (substance addiction, mental health issues, criminal convictions) to become ‘housing-ready’. Academy: small-group practical workshops and training in our High Street space, designed to help clients improve their financial circumstances directly (eg job coaching or money management), or indirectly (peer support, mental health/wellbeing sessions). Client support and Academy directly enable more sustainable tenancies. It’s why 94% of our clients remain housed after 12 months – the tenancy agreement is not the end of a client’s journey with us.
