Recipient Org: Description Buddy Up is a charity designed to offer mentoring to young people identified by schools, who would benefit from some one-to-one support from an experienced youth worker and mentor. With young people returning to schools after an unprecedented pandemic, many schools are reporting an increase in anxiety amongst their young people, a reduction in confidence and some struggling with attendance. We pay a particular focus on mental health issues and work with the schools to support those most affected by the pandemic. Over 10 weeks, we focus on developing the young person’s personal skills, encouraging them to manage their issues and provide them with the skills to increase their understanding of mental health and implement these skills on a daily basis. We are now also offering support to Year 6 in primary school assisting them with transitioning to secondary school. This has been an area where we have seen a lot of interest in recent months and have adapted our support to help these young people.
