| Recipient Org: Description | We want to improve the quality of life of these unpaid carers – that’s anyone who looks after a family member, relative, friend, or neighbour because of long-term physical or mental ill health, or a disability. Currently CCS reaches more than 1,500 families and supports more than 3,500 individuals, enabling people in unpaid caring roles to take a break while their loved ones are kept safe and looked after by a team of over 90 CCS Carer Support Workers (CSWs). Our professional CSWs are friendly and compassionate. They receive a minimum of 45 hours training before they start to ensure they are fully trained to offer safe and caring support and meet all the medical, behavioural, and support needs of those they care for. Since it was founded, CCS has put unpaid carers at the heart of everything it does. Providing information, advice and practical support to unpaid carers, their families and the people for whom they care. Our aim is for carers to feel supported and rested, to help them carry on doing what they do, for as long as possible. CCS provides the following services: Care Replacement Breaks - Our team of fully trained CSWs deliver safe and personal care replacement breaks for loved ones, either at home or within the community. We help with moving, bathing, showering, dressing, continence care, as well as help with medication, eating and drinking. Our CSWs can also provide, when appropriate, a fully risk-assessed visit into a clients local area. Companionship Visits - Our trained companions offer a friendly face for chats and home activities and, when appropriate, can accompany carers and their loved ones during visits into the local community. A caring companion will spend social time with an unpaid carers loved one, so that they can gain some extra time for themselves, enjoy a hobby, meet friends or enjoy a well-earned rest. Emergency Care Planning – By registering with this free service, carers can nominate up to four trusted contacts, in preference order, whom CCS can contact to provide emergency support should an emergency arise. If none of the contacts are available CCS will provide up to 48 hours round the clock care by sending fully trained and friendly staff members to step in. Enabling, family, friends, and other relevant organisations to consider the best options should the designated carer be unable to return to caring after this time. End Of Life Care Service – CCS support is available at some of the most difficult times in the lives of both the carer and the person they care for. When someone has a life-limiting illness, it is reassuring to know that we can offer support and assistance throughout the last year, months, weeks and days of life. Our caring staff understand how important it is to feel secure and safe throughout this challenging time. NEW as of 2025/26 MR2 Crossroads Care Surrey provides compassionate and quality care services designed to support those who selflessly care for loved ones of all ages and conditions. Our dedicated and trained team offers essential breaks to carers, safeguarding their well-being and helping to keep families united. With an estimated 120,000 unpaid carers in Surrey, we deeply understand the immense challenges and sacrifices that come with being an unpaid carer. Whether it’s a family member, a relative, a friend or a neighbour who looks after someone with long-term physical or mental health conditions or disabilities, the role can be overwhelming and exhausting. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for these selfless individuals by giving them the respite they desperately need and deserve. We offer unpaid carers the chance to unwind and indulge in activities they love, secure in the knowledge that their loved ones are in the safe, reliable and expert hands of our carer support workers. We provide not just relief, but also peace of mind, enabling carers to recharge and continue their invaluable role with renewed strength. In addition to practical support Crossroads has created the unpaid carers hub to support all unpaid carers across Surrey by providing them with a pathway of information to assist them wherever they are on their care journey. Complementing this is our employers hub which provides information to employers small or large to support unpaid carers in the workplace. |
