| Recipient Org: Description | Emmaus Transformation Trust a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee established in 1998 operates via 'Lighthouses', community buildings that light the paths of the marginalised, disadvantaged and vulnerable across Woking and the surrounding areas. We deliver over 25 distinct projects that are tailored to meet specific, expressed needs and we view each beneficiary that we support as a unique individual, with a variety of needs. We work holistically to transform the lives of each individual we support. We serve over 8,000 local individuals per year. Our main base is Woking, but we are also already established in Barnsbury, and we are currently progressing plans to firmly establish ourselves within Aldershot and Guildford. We currently reach individuals from Woking, Guildford, Staines, Addlestone, Chertsey, Godalming and Aldershot. The issues we support through our work include poor mental health, unemployment, underemployment, homelessness, domestic violence, families who lack support, social isolation, individuals experiencing life as refugees, individuals readjusting to life after prison, addiction and much more. The projects that we deliver include a foodbank, a hygiene bank, chat and support sessions, debt advice, employment support, a family support hub, a Ukrainian hub for refugees, redistribution of clothing, free haircuts, baking and cooking lessons, art therapy and many others. We constantly seek feedback from our beneficiaries to ensure that we are meeting their needs. We are an agile organisation and can quickly modify the programmes that we deliver in response to feedback. We nurture over 110 local partnerships with third sector organisations, statutory bodies, schools and churches. These partnerships include Citizens Advice, Christians Against Poverty, The Trussell Trust, Home Start, Foodwise, Your Sanctuary, Women in Prison, Migrant Help, CAMHS, SSAFA, the Priory Hospital, Surrey Drugs and Alcohol Services, Guildford Probation Service, The Salvation Army, Surrey Care Trust and many others. These partnerships ensure joined-up working, minimising the risk of work being duplicated across the region. They also enable us to ensure robust referral and signposting pathways are in place for beneficiaries. NEW as of 2026/27 MR1 We provide short term emergency food and essential supplies to local people. Although that is the entry point for our service, our main aim is to address the reasons that someone had to resort to using a foodbank in the first instance. We provide signposting support and a fully trained advisor to try to ensure that anyone referred to our foodbank does not need to continue to access emergency support but get the help they need to move on from a crisis situation. |
