Recipient Org: Description The MYTI Youth Club operates from the Phoenix Centre in Preston, Tadworth Surrey. Preston is an ex-Council Estate considered by Surrey County Council as an area of serious deprivation. The Club is open on Friday evenings and during school holidays for young people aged 8 to 15. It was founded five years ago by Tony Britto, a local businessman who grew up on the estate and in his earlier life experienced the deprivation personally. He was always in trouble and had very little schooling. But he learnt a skill and became a successful roofer specialising in listed buildings. Despite his business abilities he can still barely read and write. He wanted to prevent today’s young people from making the same mistakes as he did, so he set up The MYTI Club. MYTI stands for “Micah Youth Team Incorporated” and is named in memory of Tony’s best friend’s son, Micah, who died of a serious illness aged two. The Club has over 200 members and weekly attendance of between 50 – 80 children. We operate from a purpose-built youth centre provided by the local authority as part of the Preston Redevelopment Project. We provide a range of sporting and arts and crafts activities as well as pool, table tennis and other games. We also include a range of enrichment activities such as cooking and karaoke and have the involvement of Surrey Police who regularly attend sessions to interact with the children and to give talks on subjects such as knife carrying and County Lines. A hot meal is also provided which many of our members might not have if not for the Club. No charge is made for attendance. NEW as of 2026/27 MR1 The MYTI Club exists to advance its charitable objectives, which include: • Supporting the development and advancement in life, and needs of young people aged 8-15 in the Tadworth Area, with a focus on young people who are developmentally, socially and/or economically disadvantaged, and living on the Preston estate and immediate vicinity of Tadworth, Surrey. • Providing support and resources to the MYTI Club members and families. • Organising events and activities that further its charitable aims. • Promoting inclusivity, diversity, and participation for all members, with development opportunities for the older children. • Ensuring responsible stewardship of funds and resources.
