| Recipient Org: Description | Safe New Futures is a long-established charity supporting adults and young people who are experiencing anxiety, low confidence, depression, social isolation or other challenges that prevent them from moving forward in their lives. Our aim is to help people rebuild emotional stability, motivation and belief in themselves so they can take meaningful next steps into education, training, volunteering or employment. We do this through structured, early intervention programmes that combine evidence -informed cognitive behavioural approaches with practical progression support. For more than twenty years, we have worked with people who feel stuck or unable to engage with everyday life. Many are out of work, disengaged from education, or struggling to manage anxiety or low mood. These challenges often overlap with difficult life experiences, low self-esteem, limited routines or social isolation. Our programmes are designed to meet people where they are, helping them understand their thinking patterns, develop coping strategies, build healthier routines and increase motivation at a realistic and achievable pace. Our core model includes a five-week CBT informed group programme followed by a twelve -week Pathways programme that provides continuity, peer connection and supported practice. This is reinforced by one -to -one mentoring and wellbeing check -ins that ensure participants feel safe, heard and supported throughout their journey. This consistent structure allows people to develop emotional resilience, gain confidence, set goals and progress toward education, volunteering or employment. Early intervention is central to our purpose. Many people referred to us do not meet statutory thresholds for specialist mental health support, yet they are struggling to cope with day-to -day life. Without timely help, difficulties often escalate, affecting families, workplaces, putting pressure on GP services, housing teams and community organisations. Our programmes help prevent this by offering accessible, practical support that improves mental wellbeing, reduces isolation and enables people to begin re-engaging with their community. Partnership working strengthens our impact. We receive referrals from job centres, NHS services, housing providers, youth services and local charities. These partners recognise that we fill a gap for people who need structured emotional support before they can engage with work or education. Demand from Surrey continues to grow, with rising referrals and increasing requests from community partners who trust our approach. Our impact data consistently shows significant improvements in anxiety, confidence, resilience and motivation, with more than 70% of participants progressing into volunteering, learning or work. Independent evaluation, strong safeguarding practice, and robust financial governance underpin our work. We are supported by respected national funders including the Edward Gostling Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation and the National Lottery Community Fund, alongside NHS contracts, reflecting confidence in our delivery, reporting and governance. Overall, our aim is simple: to help people who feel overwhelmed, anxious or disconnected regain stability, confidence and hope and to support them as they take meaningful, achievable steps toward a more positive future. |
