Recipient Org: Description The National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) is a voluntary organisation forming part of the Search and Rescue community in England and Wales. Its purpose is the protection and preservation of life at sea around the UK coastline which it achieves through a network of 55 lookout stations keeping visual and radio watch during daylight hours. NCI is a registered charity (registration number 1159975) which is entirely self-funding. Each station is self-financing and has an ongoing programme of fund raising to cover the running costs of the station, its equipment and to finance building maintenance and repairs.
