Recipient Org: Description | Rayleigh Age Concern is a Day Care Centre providing Home style Cooked lunches and refreshments for the elderly. We offer transport to and from the Todman Centre for the elderly who would otherwise be isolated & lonely. Part of our role is creating a community environment where the elderly can socialise, have nutritious meals whilst having fun. We liaise with outside agencies to provide up to date information such as the winter warmth allowance, befriending service etc With the number of elderly in the Rayleigh & Rochford area there is a necessity for cooked meals to be provided, socialising and friendship to offer a better quality of life. Many of the elderly get isolated and have poor quality nutrition and this project helps alleviate these problems. The Todman Centre provides this service to the over 55's at a reasonable cost of £4 which consists of Home Style cooked lunch of two courses & refreshments for the day. We also provide transport through Wyvern Community Transport for a £2.50 donation towards transport costs. |
