Recipient Org: Description CAVS is a CVS which was formed initially to support and promote the effectiveness of the not for profit sector in response to identified needs in Castle Point. Its overall aim and objectives is to support the most vulnerable in our communities. CAVS believes that no person should suffer oppression or lack of opportunity and priority should be given to working with people whose full participation in society is limited by economic, political and social disadvantages. As a CVS, CAVS provides support, information, guidance and the recruitment of volunteers for its membership organisations, which comprise charities and other third sector organisations. This service facilitates solutions to local issues and it supports existing voluntary sector providers to extend their projects. Driven by community needs, where appropriate, CAVS has developed a small portfolio of schemes, which bring benefit to the local population and are designed to enhance independence, resilience and overall better health and wellbeing. Our aim is to prevent crisis through early intervention. Our befriending scheme and social prescription schemes are for adults and span the Castle Point and Rochford areas; We have a Peer Mentoring Scheme for pre-birth, children and their families in Castle Point In addition CAVS supports 8-19 year old children and young people across four quadrants in the County of Essex through the provision of early intervention mentoring, with a view to preventing escalation of issues and developing coping strategies and guidance for immediate support and for the long term development of these young people.
