Recipient Org: Description | The RLSS is a national charity dedicated to saving lives of people in and around water. Nationally, lifesavers teach lifesaving techniques to prevent deaths by drowning, heart attacks and choking. Each year its volunteers train approximately 1 million people, including lifeguards on the beach and at local pools. It is estimated that 500 people have a near death experience due to water in the UK every year. The Essex Branch support lifesaving in the county, by running courses to train trainers and lifesavers. It mirrors the aims of the national organisation. |
