Recipient Org: Description The Offshoot Foundation aims to empower, enthuse and inspire disadvantaged young people to develop life skills and raise aspirations using a range of creative media in order to engage with them and encourage them to reach their full potential. We achieve this aim running creative workshops, courses and events aimed at targeted beneficiaries in identified areas across East Anglia. These workshops use creative media to teach them technical skills and communication skills, to help build confidence and to develop team leading skills. The workshops give young people the opportunity to participate in something that is not easily accessible to them with the aim of increasing their confidence, raising their aspirations and providing then with positive experiences to include on their CV’s. Many of our students have little or no access to creative courses yet are interested in exploring further. We have found in the past that harder to reach young people, or those who are at risk of getting involved in negative activities, are more enthusiastic when using creative media as a tool to engage with them. The young people taking part in the workshops will be involved in the planning, creativity and implementation of the workshops. Over the last year we have run workshops across Essex, Suffolk, London, and the West Midlands with 500 beneficiaries.
