Recipient Org: Description To provide a free weekly audio recorded digest of local news, plus a regular magazine edition and a regular information bulletin, each distributed alternately every three weeks, to blind and partially sighted listeners. A free USB memory stick player is also supplied where required. Southend Talking Newspaper recordings are made by seven teams of up to six volunteers and each recording, packing and despatch takes approximately three hours to complete. Being an entirely free service to the listeners all income is derived from donations and fund-raising activities.
