Recipient Org: Description | The Hungarian Community of Southend was constituted five years ago with the aim of contributing towards community well-being and promoting community cohesion. During the years we have organized several thematic events in order to keep national traditions as well as to promote the heritage and culture of Hungary in Southend-on-Sea. In 2015 we set up a fortnighly Hungarian Weekend School where with the help of voluntary teachers we have created the opportunity for families with Hungarian heritage to keep their traditions as well as to learn folklore, history and reading in an organised way. This helps the children to become fluent bilingual individuals and also to keep our national tradition. |
