Recipient Org: Description Age Concern Southend is a small, independent charity based in Westcliff which began in 1974 as Southend Older People’s Welfare and have been helping older people in our community ever since. We currently provide general advice and support, wheelchair hire, befriending, community clubs, hearing aid replacement, day care and social and fitness activities. We are not affiliated with any national organisations such as Age UK. In February of 2018 we merged with Club 50+, a community club providing arts, sports and social activities to the over 50’s in Southend which is now located in our community hub, The Haven. The Haven also offers a variety of services for older people including podiatry, day care and dementia support, stop smoking support, housing information, hairdressing and reflexology. We are always happy to help with all aspects of growing older.
