Recipient Org: Description Mid Essex Area Meeting, a religious organisation, is a charity excepted from registration although having now reached its income limit (£100,000) and will have to register in the coming year. Website: midessexquakers.co.uk. MEAM has four meeting houses (Billericay, Brentwood, Chelmsford and Maldon) The Maldon address is Butt Lane, Maldon CM9 5HD. The purpose of our Meeting Houses is primarily as a place of worship for a local Quaker community comprising members and attenders. This group of people are largely social activists who are concerned with peace, justice and equality issues in our society and in the world at large. In the local community, the Meeting House is let/rented to non party-political groups, serving the local community, who meet regularly or occasionally as required. For example; Alcoholics Anonymous, a Stage School for children and young people, the Essex Wildlife Trust, the Maldon Camera Club, yoga and meditation groups, Life art works class, specialist counselling groups such as Pension Wise and the Silver Street Clinic, Fitness and Wellbeing classes, Royal Voluntary Society luncheon club and the Alzheimers Society as well as the Maldon Distict Council Heritage talks. The historic building has always been open for the Heritage weekend.
