Pecan Pantry - Scaling Up (Phase 2) (360G-GSTC-GRA02063)

£595,000
Recipient Organization

The proposal is to build on the lessons learnt to date and carry on supporting the two existing sites while opening 4 more sites across the borough. New sites will operate on a franchise basis and will be delivered in partnership with local organisations with reach and trust into the local communities but with limited expertise in food delivery. Pecan will take the lead in setting up the new sites, providing support and expertise around scoping, staff and volunteer training, governance, IT system and data collection. This role will be carried by a newly appointed Service Development Manager, who used to be Pantry member and a volunteer at the Peckham site. The Pantry Project Manager already in post will focus on further developing and diversifying the supply chain, as well as outreach and branding. At strategic level, Pecan CEO will take the lead on developing the operating model and will work closely with the evaluator on the economic assessment and the business case for long-tern sustainability. The Foundation will also provide Grants Plus to enable Pecan to access support and expertise around scaling up social enterprises.
