Recipient Org: Description | Geese Theatre Company uses theatre and drama to enable people to tell their own stories. We work across the prison estate, with women, men, young people and in secure hospitals, delivering projects that support the process of change. We also work in community settings, reaching people with multiple and complex needs, including homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill health and domestic abuse. We have developed a range of interactive issue-based performances, groupwork programmes and creative projects to address complex and challenging behaviours in a safe, active and accessible way. We have been at the forefront of discussions around the importance and success of arts projects in these sectors and are seeing acceptance at the highest levels that these projects can and do have a lasting impact on participants’ lives. Our groupwork with women is delivered only by our experienced female practitioners, working in a holistic and trauma informed way. We work with the female prison estate and in partnership with specialist agencies in the community, creating safe spaces for women to begin to explore their journeys. |
