Recipient Org: Description Birmingham Community Matters (BCM) is a charity supporting the development and sustainability of small and micro volunteer-led groups across Birmingham. We offer help and guidance to small, local voluntary organisations and charities in the Birmingham area to start, manage and improve what they do, which in turn helps them to achieve their objectives. We run virtual and face-to-face sessions alongside community anchor organisations in the city; bringing volunteers who run groups together to support and learn from each other and from our skilled 'Helpers'. Helpers are BCM volunteers who have valuable experience of involvement in the voluntary sector and can share information, experience, contacts and ideas. BCM is a peer support and peer learning network and we believe everyone has something to learn and everyone has something to teach. We also run workshops and information session on useful topics such as fundraising, governance, volunteer recruitment, marketing. We offer one-to-one specific support online in response to questions and challenges groups bring to us. We want volunteers of small groups we help to be equipped to tackle the issues they face efficiently and with confidence, to help their groups thrive and sustain, and ultimately deliver impactful community work city-wide.
