Wheelchair-related costs (360G-JuliaRausingTrust-a1KSr00000NHEAd)

£240,000
Recipient Organisation

They are looking for a sustainable, long-term funding solution that maintains service delivery, whilst reducing the time young people are on the wating list. They are requesting that the Julia Rausing Trust supports their efforts to meet the additional demand of rising applications as they work to maintain a waiting list of no greater than six-months. This is to ensure that every young wheelchair user gets the right wheelchair, one that meets their physical, social and therapeutic needs. Additional funding would provide more equipment to young wheelchair users and more assessments by their clinical and engineering teams to take place. Funding would also be used to increase the ability of the clinical, engineering and family liaison teams, to meet the demand of the 1,000 young people a year who require a new wheelchair outside the NHS. They expect to deliver Wheelchairs and support to 210 young people over the three year grant period, 16 new wheelchairs acquired each year, and a further 53 existing wheelchairs repaired, modified etc. to prolong their existence.
