Recipient Org: Description The NSPCC is the leading children's charity in the UK, fighting to end child abuse and neglect in every community. We help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find new ways of preventing abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. Our current five-year strategy (ending March 2021) aims to make a discernible impact on: Preventing child abuse in families facing adversity Preventing child sexual abuse Helping children speak out and adults take action about abuse Helping abused children get back on track Making children safe from abuse online To achieve our strategic goals, our work is divided between national services, such as Childline (our 24-hour helpline for children to contact with any concern) and the NSPCC Schools Service, and specialist local services that work directly with children and their families, delivered by expert teams embedded in communities through our network of Service Centres across the UK. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, our Executive Board are responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation. The Executive Board has the authority to make immediate decisions about strategic issues and performance. The CEO of the NSPCC chairs the Executive Board and is responsible to the Board of Trustees. Trustees meet six times a year and are responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of the charity. There are currently 17 trustees, including 6 divisional trustees who provide an important link with our supporters across the country. Our Youth Advisory Board, made up of 8 young people, are also consulted on relevant matters, ensuring they are involved in our decision making. The Board delegates some of its powers and responsibilities to committees, which include: Audit and Risk, Divisional Trustees, Finance, Fundraising, Nominations and Governance, Policy, Remuneration, and Service Delivery.
