Recipient Org: Description The Play Scheme provides free play activities for children aged 5-11 for 4 weeks during the summer holidays in Filton, Patchway, Stoke Gifford and Bradley Stoke. There are many disadvantaged families in these areas who cannot afford activities for their children during holidays. We recruit experienced staff with DBS checks to provide activities like sports, arts and crafts and team games. We work to a 1:10 ratio of workers to children. This allows 40 children per session per location . Last year 600 children attended. 95%of those children said they had fun at the play scheme. The aims of the scheme are simple, that children have a chance to be included in fun activities in a safe environment, to reduce anti-social behaviour, promote self-esteem and aspirations and equal opportunities. We will run themed weeks such as - recycling and environment, a celebration week and animals and nature.
