Recipient Org: Description | Carib Theatre Company's aims and objectives are to provide opportunities for Black people to work in the arts at the highest professional level and to provide training to young Black people in the performing arts with industry professionals. Carib Theatre produces Professional theatre, as well work with young people, and TIE projects. Carib Theatre Company believes in inter generational participation through the arts, and has spent many years working with young people, providing hands on training in film making. Carib Theatre has also worked with Caribbean Elders for our film Home Sweet Harlesden. We recognise the gulf that exists between the older and younger generations and seek to bridge that gulf where we can. Although based in London, Carib Theatre has carried over its aims and objectives by co producing several projects in Bristol in partnership with writer and producer Jenny Davis and Bristol Old Vic Theatre. For instance, Carib Theatre co produced 'Looking For Obama' at the Old Vic Theatre. This was aimed at a Bristol BME audience and although a professional production, also provided work experience and opportunities for local young Black artists. Carib Theatre Company's overall objective is addressing Black and minority under representation in the arts. |
