| Recipient Org: Description | Bath Carnival is a non-profit organization which delivers an annual community project for children, young people & adults living in B&NES. People are brought together to conceive and deliver a celebration of creativity and collaboration with a programme of creative performances, workshops and seminars in art, dance, theatre and music. The project reaches out to those who may not other wise have the chance to engage in the arts, including those with mental and/or physical health issues, vulnerable adults and those coming from deprived areas of B&NES. Each year we provides free workshops in costume making, music and dance to schools, homeless charities, disability groups, special needs schools and community groups. These groups are brought together to collaborate in a safe, accessible environment and learn new skills together. Workshops provide an enjoyable group experience and are designed to build participants confidence, teach them new skills and establish new relationships within the community. Large free public workshops bring together thousands of local people to learn how to drum, dance and make costumes/structures for the carnival. The project culminates in a final event celebrating the diversity of B&NES, with workshop participants performing in a carnival procession and festival in a park. |
