Recipient Org: Description Working Young is aiming to establish a social enterprise to provide inspirational guidance through the first steps of working life. Our objective is to offer young people opportunities to improve their experience, qualifications and financial situation in an economically sustainable way. We provide personalised support and incentive packages for each young person to learn from their past and build their future. The services that we will provide are: • Taking old unwanted bikes from existing bike charities in Bristol • Teaching young people to strip them down, and rebuild them • Selling bikes in retail spaces across the city to offset costs • Provide face-to-face support and training, including NVQ qualifications • Offer a space for young people to meet peers and take part in something positive within their community. • Clear progression paths from informal drop-in to work placement and onto paid employment through an apprenticeship (with qualification). • Real-life work experience where young people can refine their career goals and gain employability skills. • Opportunities for adults within the community to mentor young people and offer them guidance and pass on working knowledge. There are also young mentors to offer peer support.
