Recipient Org: Description | Travelling Light’s mission is to enhance the lives of children and young people through theatre. Based in the heart of Barton Hill in Bristol BS5, we engage with children, young people and their families in our local area. Services include weekly youth theatre groups, two groups for young people with additional needs; monthly free theatre trips and outreach sessions; production projects and career development opportunities. Our schools programme also reaches children across Bristol, enabling them to embrace their creativity, take ownership of their work and gain practical experience of making theatre. In the last year (2016/17) we worked with 1484 children and young people aged 0-25, providing a safe and welcoming space for them to express themselves through theatre. We have been making outstanding theatre for and with children and young people for over 30 years, engaging children as young as 6 months. Through making high quality professional shows we aim to inspire young people’s thinking, engage their emotions and fire their imaginations. We tour our professional productions nationally and internationally and last year (2016/17) we reached audiences of 40,663 children and their families. |
