Recipient Org: Description | Founded in 2004, Access Sport is a registered charity with 18 full-time employees and 13 trustees, meeting five times per-annum. We are an award-winning charity that transforms lives through the power of sport. We do this by building thriving community-sports-clubs led by inspirational volunteers. These clubs provide life-changing opportunities for hard to reach young people whilst creating a positive and permanent resource within the community. We help the clubs to be self-sustaining, to grow, and to ensure they meet the varied needs of young people in their area. We carry out this work because the number of children and young people engaged in sport in the UK today is in significant decline and one-third of UK-children are now classified as overweight. All too often it is the poorest communities which are most affected. |
