Recipient Org: Description • Promote social, education and economic inclusion We provide Free English classes & promote other training and educational learning opportunities in the community. We will be delivering a 10 hrs taster course for teaching languages by a volunteer. • Promote equality of opportunity Our work, support and opportunities are open to all ethnicities, gender and age. • Promote good race relations between people of different racial groups We network people from different ethnic backgrounds and organise activities to share our different cultural backgrounds. At the moment we have an exhibition o our organisation and work at Weston Museum. • Commitment to equality We are committed to equality and fairness. • Promote integration & cohesion. Our offices and work are always geared up to promote integration and cohesion in the community. • Disseminate information. We use Facebook, our offices, our contacts with groups and our newsletter to disseminate useful information and raise awareness. • Signpost and refer BME people to essential services. We offer this support to people who contact us by coming to the office, telephone, e-mail or are referred to us by other agencies. • Combat isolation. Our office provides a place for people to call in for a chat and a cup of tea. We are planning to start a BME Elders group as soon as our future becomes more stable. We have volunteer widower who would like to start a dominoes club, a volunteer qualified lady who would like to start some gentle exercises etc. • Celebrate and share different cultures. We have an annual celebration when we invite members of all the BME groups and individuals in North Somerset. This event is always open to local authorities dignitaries and other local authorities and voluntary organisations. We also mark various especial Equality & cultural days during the year.
