Recipient Org: Description Aid Box Community (ABC) was set up to provide relief of poverty and financial hardship of Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Bristol and surrounding areas. We also provide some support to the refugee camps in France. Aid Box Community provides free (donated by the residents of Bristol) living essentials and support for integration into the local community. We work closely with Bristol Refugee Rights, Unseen, Bristol Hospitality Network (amongst others) who all refer to the Hub. We assist with travel costs and deliver goods to peoples’ houses if needed. ABC provides basic essentials for daily living. The Hub collects, sorts and distributes items by appointment. We have 35 regular volunteers, with a further 50 providing support at festivals, stalls and events. Our Hub volunteers and staff have received training from the Red Cross and Unseen and are able to assist with other queries the individuals may have, signposting as required. Once referred, we offer appointments, welcome them on arrival with a place to sit and relax, engage in conversation and provide refreshments. We have a large stock of clothing, bedding, toiletries, smaller electrical goods (microwaves, hairdryers), kitchen essentials (crockery/pots/cutlery/glasses) that they choose from
