Recipient Org: Description The mission of Wellspring is to provide affordable, professional Counselling for adults and donation-based Counselling and CBT for young people resident in North Somerset. Wellspring is a well-respected local charity providing Counselling services locally. As such it complements well other local mental health providers’ activities, offering a service for those on low incomes who wouldn’t otherwise be able to access professional Counselling easily. Usually this provision is face-to-face. Since the start of lockdown, Wellspring moved all of its Counselling and CBT support to remote provision of sessions, either by phone or video conferencing when the UK went into lockdown. Wellspring’s usually provides 62 adult face to face Counselling sessions per week, ie. around 1376 (in 2019) sessions attended per annum. These are provided in 2 main locations based in Nailsea in North Somerset. Wellspring usually provides 32 young people donation-based face to face Counselling sessions per week for 11-25-year-olds, ie. around 1423 (in 2019) sessions attended per annum. These are provided in 6 locations based in Nailsea, Backwell and Portishead. Wellspring usually provides 50 young people providing free Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) sessions per week during term-time and session during school holidays, ie. around 1080 (in 2019) per annum.
