Recipient Org: Description | Leukaemia Care is a national blood cancer support charity. We are dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer in any way receives the right information, advice and support. We receive no government funding and therefore rely almost entirely on general donations, support from the community, our own events and the hard work and commitment of our volunteers. Through our range of support services, we ensure that patients and carers have access to reliable information and emotional support to allow them to cope with their diagnosis and treatment positively. We know that a blood cancer diagnosis can be devastating and can have a huge impact both physically and mentally. 34,000 people year are diagnosed with a blood cancer. That is one every 20 minutes. We know that a blood cancer diagnosis can leave patients feeling isolated, confused, angry and shocked. Our continued task is to expand the support we offer to reach even more patients, carers and nurses to widen the impact we can have, on improving the quality of life for patients. We are passionate about doing everything we can to improve the journey that patients go through from diagnosis to treatment. |
