Recipient Org: Description | The Ronald McDonald House Bristol is an independent charity that provides FREE accommodation to families whilst their children are being critically treated at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC). The BRHC is the Centre of Excellence that treats over 33 critical conditions in the South West and has a 300-mile referral radius causing us to have a long and demanding waiting list. Our ultimate goal is to keep our doors open to the families who need our help whilst they go through this turbulent time in their lives. Keeping our doors open means that we can help reduce financial strain and stress on our families, provide practical and emotional support and keep families together. During this time, many of the parents will have to take time off work (often unpaid) and some have found themselves in situations where they are forced to give up work all together in order to be close to their child. Unfortunately, our families, still need to pay usual expenses such as mortgages, rent and bills. Staying with us means they have one less thing to worry about and the impact of this needs no explaining. |
