Recipient Org: Description | Vision North Somerset has supported blind and partially sighted people in North Somerset since 1975. We have a wealth of experience in delivering voluntary services and have been commissioned by North Somerset Council to provide the statutory services of registration and rehabilitation since 1999. We have 1,450 people on our database and keep in touch via regular newsletters, our website and social media. We aim to improve the quality of life and health and wellbeing for people with sight loss via a range of voluntary services including, befriending, social activities, benefit applications and volunteering opportunities. The coronavirus pandemic has led us to explore new and innovative ways of providing these activities. People tell us that they are lonely, isolated and fearful of the future. They want to be included in their communities and meet other people who share the same frustrations and difficulties. Our Talking for Health project will do just that. Our aim is to provide innovative solutions to meet the practical and emotional needs of blind and partially sighted people with the objective of alleviating the devastating impact of sight loss. |
