Recipient Org: Description RICE - The Research Institute for the Care of Older People is a dementia research and treatment centre located in Bath, serving Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) and a much wider area in Somerset, Wiltshire and beyond. RICE focuses on both care and cure – it has the care of older people at its heart whilst urgently seeking more effective treatments and ultimately a cure for dementia. Increasingly RICE is looking at the relationship between dementia and other chronic conditions in older age such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease and worsening bone health and fragility problems. The annual programme of work includes delivery of the specialist Memory Clinic service for Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) patients. At the clinic, referred patients are assessed, diagnosed and regularly followed up and reviewed by the clinical team. We are funded to run the Memory Clinic service until March 2024.
