Recipient Org: Description | Brentry and Henbury Children’s Centre is a registered charity providing family support, community groups and nursery and preschool care for our local community in north Bristol, which falls into the top 20% most deprived areas in England. Nearly a third of children in our constituency live in poverty. We are the only independent children’s centre in Bristol, running council funded children's centre services alongside our own projects and programmes. Over the last year, our support has helped families experiencing mental health problems, domestic violence and poverty through the Covid-19 pandemic. We have provided counselling, one-to-one support and groups both online and in person where possible. We have delivered activity packs to and made doorstop visits to children with additional needs. We have fed families through our small food bank and free hot meals programme, and provided 70 children from families in need with clothes and shoes from our Children's Clothes Bank. |
