Recipient Org: Description Julian House supports some of the most marginalised and vulnerable members of society in Bath & North East Somerset and across the South West. We support those who are street homeless as well as those who are impacted by domestic abuse, the criminal justice system, long-term unemployment and substance misuse. Julian House also offers support to the traveller and boater community, refugees fleeing persecution, and people on the autism spectrum. We deliver community outreach work, intensive one-to-one casework support, safe and supported accommodation, and employability programmes. The common thread through all of these services is reconnecting socially excluded individuals with mainstream society and empowering them to build sustainable, independent lives for themselves and their families. Over 2020-2021, Julian House was at the forefront of the government’s “Everyone In” initiative in response to COVID-19, which saw us house and support 66 people who were sleeping rough or at risk so that they could safely isolate, and work alongside other agencies to house and support many more. For a number of our clients, our staff were their only source of support – both practical and emotional – and their only contacts during the lockdown periods. In the same year, our street-based Homeless Outreach teams across the South West supported 752 rough sleepers, of whom 75% successfully moved on from the streets. We also accommodated 116 rough sleepers in our hostel accommodation in Bath. Furthermore, we housed 102 people, either with a background of street homelessness or addiction issues, in our other supported housing projects across the region and in “trainer tenancies” targeted specifically at vulnerable 18-25 year-olds. Overall, in 2020-2021 across all our services we supported 1,589 individuals to build better, brighter futures for themselves.
