Recipient Org: Description Vision North Somerset has supported blind and partially sighted people throughout North Somerset since 1975 and we currently have 1,485 service users. We aim to improve their quality of life and health and wellbeing by promoting independence and inclusion. We provide a range of services that specifically meet the needs of people with sight loss. Our voluntary funded activities include; outreach, peer support, emotional support, befrienders, financial advice and volunteering opportunities. In addition we are commissioned by North Somerset Council to provide the statutory duties of rehabilitation and registration for blind and partially sighted people. People benefit from a holistic service from one source – meaning they do not have to find their way through the complex maze of health and social care services. The needs of people with sight loss are at the heart of all we do. Blind and partially sighted people are represented on our trustee board, our volunteers and our staff, so we can be sure that the voice of people with sight loss is heard. Vision North Somerset is a well established local charity with strong community roots and is well connected with statutory and voluntary health and social care organisations.
