Recipient Org: Description Empowered Lives is a registered charity founded and managed by survivors of domestic and sexual violence for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. We provide free urgent peer support that is inspiring and trauma informed. Since we began, we have delivered a range of free services for survivors of current and /or historic abuse, including physical abuse, verbal abuse, sexual violence, harassment, coercion, family abuse and estrangement, incest, emotional abuse and financial abuse. We have partnered with sarsas, Bristol Mind, Bristol Feminist Collective, Student Hubs and the local universities to deliver more work and enhance collaboration in the community to address the origins and affects of abuse through educational services and workshops. We support survivors of abuse immediately. There is no waiting list to access our free empowering peer support groups and online communities of survivors who encourage one another. These spaces are confidential and safe to reduce suicidal ideation and isolation. In the last year we have directly supported hundreds of survivors of abuse, increased our partnerships, providing 1.1 coaching over the phone and delivered educational meetings online via zoom with a focus on pattern changing, codapendency recovery, grief recovery and healing from the affects of abuse. We also deliver meetings on reclaiming sexuality for those who have turned to sex addiction and would like tools and support for remaining informed on consent, empowerment and body positivity, especially for those who have experienced rape or sexual harassment. In addition, we run regular 14 week pattern changing courses on zoom that help survivors break through the cycles of abuse and to process pain, grief, trauma and denial. Each week, we cover a different topic to aid the recovery and healing journey from identifying different forms of abuse, family abuse, the stages of grief, boundary setting, consent, healthy relationships, codapendency recovery, assertiveness, joy and goal setting. Our services have helped many survivors in urgent, life threatening need. Our clients have reported incidents of abuse, taken up new hobbies, come out from denial and processed much trauma as a result of gaining direct support.
