Recipient Org: Description The overall aims and objectives of our organisation, based on our charitable objects, are the relief of sickness and injury for the benefit of the public by assisting in the provision of emergency medical services and equipment in particular the provision of an air ambulance service or other emergency transportation primarily in the area served by the former Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust namely Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire. The activities of our organisation therefore mainly focus on providing the air ambulance service, the other emergency transportation, and the necessary critical care paramedics, doctors, and equipment for this service to be successful. The missions that our critical care unit attend vary widely, with our team able to perform extremely advanced medical interventions outside of a hospital setting - essentially operating as a flying accident & emergency department. Our organisation also promotes and carries out research towards enhancing the critical care service we provide, and facilitates additional work when projects arise, such as the CPR education programme Great Western Heart Starters.
