Recipient Org: Description The organisation's overall aim is the promotion of race equality and cultural diversity in the education system, specialising in the support of Black and Minority Ethnic children and young people and their parents and carers, through the provision of the following activities and services: 1) A programme of educational activities including supplementary schooling and mentoring to provide support in relation to education and mental health and address educational inequalities between students from different ethnic groups. 2) An advice and advocacy service for parents / carers of Black and Minority Ethnic children and young people in relation to education and race equality issues. 3) Projects and initiatives aimed at promoting race equality within the education system and addressing educational inequality and disadvantage. 4) Promoting good practice and raising awareness in relation to key race equality issues. 5) Working in partnership with schools and other groups to promote race equality and challenge racism within the education system. Examples of recent work include the delivery of a programme of activities in partnership with schools and other local organisations to address the needs raised by young people following their response to the Black Lives Matter movement including developing a Race Equality Charter for schools; race equality workshops for schools; conversations with schools to raise awareness of race equality issues and supporting the involvement of young people in local decision making to promote race equality and cultural diversity.
