| Recipient Org: Description | The Bridge Foundation is a centre of excellence in family mental health, specialising in supporting disadvantaged and isolated families. Our Bridge in Schools (BiS) programme supports the emotional wellbeing of children living in poverty or experiencing isolation. We partner with schools in areas of extreme deprivation and diversity to help marginalised children (and their family members) to address trauma, increase emotional wellbeing, and improve integration. We support vulnerable, complex and disadvantaged children (many with additional educational needs and/or English as a second language), helping families to overcome challenges, build emotional resilience and establish a sense of belonging within their communities. Our therapists collaborate with schools, residents and local agencies to understand the unique challenges faced by isolated families. Our approach is to come out of the traditional clinic environment – to give families access to professional mental health support in the heart of the community. Throughout the pandemic, our team of expert clinicians have been working with families across Bristol and South Gloucester, either remotely or face to face, to help mitigate the harmful mental health impacts on our most vulnerable communities. In 2020 over 70% of families with severe mental health difficulties showed an improvement in wellbeing. |
