Recipient Org: Description We provide the positive experience and proven therapeutic benefits of horse riding, equine assisted therapy, and other nature based outdoor activities to improve the health and well-being of children and adults with a wide range of complex needs, including but not limited to disabled people. Recently, the impact of the covid pandemic has made life even more difficult for Disabled people. But it has worsened life for other people too, particularly those with existing mental health problems and even children after so many repeated, isolating lockdowns. Loneliness, anxiety, and depression are felt by more people than ever before and local services for mental health are overburdened as a result. But we know from our many years of experience that spending time with and caring for animals, and being immersed in nature, can boost strength and confidence, reduce anger and anxiety, create calm, and connect us again to one another. So, we reach around 300 people each year with: Beyond the Gait: everything non-ridden, from a one-to-one pony care session with an Autistic child to a woodland ‘Walk & Talk’ for people who have been isolated due to Covid. Therapeutic horse riding for disabled people. Integrated therapies: Physio/Hippotherapy, Speech, and Occupational Therapy Forest School: for children and young people to get outside in the fresh air for their health and wellbeing, taking part in (sometimes risky but always fun) play! Bristol Riding School: fee paying riders, team building days and more, vital help to keep our centre running and accessible to vulnerable people at little or no cost.
