Recipient Org: Description Avon Wildlife Trust is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working in the UK towards a common purpose of Bringing Wildlife Back by protecting 30% of land and sea for wildlife by 2030. With the invaluable support of our volunteers, members and corporate supporters we manage 30 nature reserves across the West of England – from ancient bluebell woods, nationally important wetlands, and wildflower meadows which are home to wildlife including otters, barn owls and nationally rare plants. We work with other organisations and landowners to protect and connect wildlife sites across the region and inspire people of all ages to care for wildlife where they live. By 2030 we want to see 1 in 4 people taking action for wildlife. We want to restore and create good quality habitat to draw down carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, reduce local flooding and pollution while promoting an abundance of biodiversity across our region. By 2030 we want to see 1000 hectares of habitat restored to provide nature-based solutions. Our current programmes include: B-Lines - creating, restoring and connecting habitat that is good for pollinating insects and other wildlife. We have been running this programme since 2016 in partnership with Buglife My Wild City - connecting residents to their local wildlife sites through events, volunteering and courses, focussing on 8 sites in Bristol Wilder Waterways - carrying out monitoring and restoration work on the Land Yeo River in North Somerset to improve water quality and wildlife habitat, and engage local people in citizen science and wellbeing activities based on the river and its catchment Learning - we run nature-based activities for pre-school children and their families, primary and secondary school children, young people 16-24, and we run lifelong learning courses for adults
