Recipient Org: Description Age UK Bristol is a local charity, established over 25 years ago to support older people aged 55+ years. We exist to improve the quality of life and promote the independence of all older people living in Bristol. We want to ensure that everyone in Bristol can love later life, by supporting and empowering older people, helping other organisations to work together and championing the interests of older people in the city. We offer a wide range of services delivering practical support and wellbeing activities. We also provide leadership to the voluntary sector working with older people in Bristol. Our flagship service is Information & Advice, where we support around 2,000 people a year to receive the benefits and advice they need. We help with all presenting issues and help to navigate the benefits system. We will signpost, fill out forms and help with any appeals. Last year, we raised an additional £1.5M in benefits for older people in Bristol. This is money for older people to spend as they need, maybe heating or food costs, or a cleaner or gardener to help them live in their home for longer. We provide day services for people living with dementia and other long-term health conditions in Withywood. We also offer home support for people in their own home and offer respite to carers. Our LinkAge service provides social and physical activities in the community to keep people as active and social as the want to be. We offer social cafes, Art Club on Zoom, and tai chi in the park. Age UK Bristol offers a holistic service to older people in Bristol. We listen to the needs of older people and support where we can. We signpost to our Support Hub partners and community services to best support older people.
